Greetings Boss,

The latest round of the Throne Struggle Series has concluded with great excitement. Congratulations to Rollo from the S74 PLWF alliance for rising as our new West King!

We recently sat down with Rollo to discuss the burning questions from our community. Dive into his fascinating answers below!

Exclusive Interview of West King Marrs!

Q1: What was your favorite moment during West King Event?

I enjoyed the team work and communication from my alliance, the state, and others throughout the game. Besides the fighting aspect of the game, the friendships and personal connections are so important and fun to have!

Q2: How happy are you to have won?

I'm so excited for how everyone came together and we were able to unite and push towards a common goal.

Q3: What do you think contributed most to your win?

Communication definitely contributed tremendously to the win. Not only communication within my own alliance, but throughout the state, and amongst other players in the game.

Q4: Congratulations and great team effort! How many tries did it take to get the perfect timing on the score board? I saw a few tries but didn't count!

It took a few tries, but overall it was a great state effort with lots of effective communication among everyone.

Q5: Would you say there is still strategy involved in the game or just spend to win?

There is definitely strategy to the game, and spending to be a top player is needed. However, the game and each alliance needs members of all types to be successful and so each role, primary or support, higher or lower spender, is important to the overall success of the team.

Q6: How much money did you spend to be West King?

$3.55 or $2.99 plus's tax.

Q7: WK was hard fought. You guys really came together to pull out the win. How did you guys coordinate your alliances

Lots of discussions and behind the scenes planning helped with coordination. We tended to separate players into different categories so that all levels and time zones could help - this included gatherers/skull shooters, running speeder accounts (to help speed in marches and rallies), to having backfillers for defending buildings, having a designated person to put in buffer troops (5s), having a rally caller and building organizer. There's a lot of moving parts, a lot of organization, so communication and being transparent is vital.

Q8: Which sole component would you advise focusing on upgrading - Gear, instructors, research, pets or savior gear?

Working to get the most amount of passive boosts available, like from town skins, sheriff skins, and march skins. The savior kits have helped, and making sure to upgrade gear, especially since it's cheaper now.

Q9: What was your hardest battle?

Convincing my wife to let me play this event on our Anniversary Weekend - true MVP right there!!

Q10: What is your advise for the newbies of West Game?

Ask questions, try new/different things, test out different strategies, and know there are many different aspects to the game. Don't be afraid to 'find your people' to connect and form bonds with. The game is what you make of it.

Q11: How can lower players fight out higher level guys?

I think knowing your opponent is important. There are some major gaps in percentages, and so knowing around what "level" your account fits into is huge. Having some strategy, and trusted people that can help talk you through a rally or attack at the time is also important, especially if you're not as confident or get nervous when the red screen starts.

Q12: What is the best method to gather more members in your team to get help during battle?

Once we discussed and decided that I was going to run for WestKing, we set common alliance goals and expectations. It also helps that much of my alliance has been playing together for several years and has already formed and maintained a trusting and caring bond with each other. Open discussion with the state helped with support and planning as well.

Q13: Is it better to Focus on one strong instructor type or having all three a bit lower?

This is preference. There are many that like to focus on one at a time, and others that like to stay relatively even across the board. I tend to stay pretty even.

Q14: What one strategy do you think was most effective in winning west king?

I think communication was important. I also think that being able to stay calm and not start to let emotions run wild when people started to get tired and we had to try different things to get the building back was important too. Taking a breath, talking through strategy and getting opinions and feedback from trusted people in the alliance and state definitely helped with that. Oh, and snacks too, snacks definitely helped.

Q15: How did you first hear about West Game? Why did you start playing?

Covid. It's been a blur since then.

Q16: What is the best number of hospitals and barracks to have in a city?

It's up to each individual person how they want to build their base. Personally, with edict and the availability of revives, I keep 1 hospital, and have 1-2 barracks. The rest are cabins to help offset troop training speeds.

Q17: What should I focus on when I am defending a building? Troop attack or defense or troop life?

Some of this preference for how you run a base. When defending a building, defense and life are important. Getting into a building, attack and life are important. Having a good team to replace troops, having a good caller, and having great communication is most important.

Q18: What are your plans for the game now that you have won the West King title?

It's great to shift and help to support someone else to run for WestKing. Share the wealth.

Q19: Any other words you'd like to share with all the players in game?

They're just pixels. Just enjoy the game!
